Real Men Teach is not limited to men who teach a particular subject, virtually, or in a classroom.
Real Men Teach includes all men who invest in young people through being a consistent
mentor, coach, pastor, barber, father, or positive influence.
For many of us the best lessons we've learned were in barbershops,
on the playing field, in church, or at the dinner table.
Our children need quality male educators of color, but these men won't be enough.
The Real Men Teach campaign reimagines what it means to be a teacher
while raising funds to help keep male educators in the classroom.
According to the NEA, of those who enter teacher education programs and earn degrees, only 23 percent of Black males choose to teach. Teaching can be a top career option for all boys of color if they only see themselves in their educators.
We can change that!
We can make teaching cool! Using colors reflective of Black Fraternities and Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU), we can support our institutions while also elevating what we value.
Black male teachers only make up 2 percent of the teaching population. Too many male educators of color leave the profession because they can't afford to pay for college, degree requirements, or leadership certifications. We can change that!
We generate scholarship funds from sales of "#RealMenTeach" apparel. Proceeds will be used to support and invest in current and future male educators of color. ("Real Men Teach is a registered trademark of Curtis Valentine.)
Donation will be dedicated to scholarships for male educators of color.
